Caracas Chronicles is, without a doubt, one of the top 3 blogs on Venezuela. Quico and Katy make a great blogging team and complement each other very well. Quico tends to step back from the chaos of the latest scandal to try and understand the big picture of why Chavismo is what it is. On the other hand, Katy has an ability to show the Revolution’s rotten core through the details of its deeds. This combo gives the blog a front end that is very complete and well rounded. The section ‘A Beginners Guide to the Chavez Era’, which can be reached by the link on the top right corner of the blog’s main page, is a must read for everyone trying to understand modern Venezuela and how Chavez has created the how-to guide for aspiring autocrats in the XXI Century.

The authors (Quico and Katy) write extremely well about events in Mr. Chávez´s Venezuela --with lots of insight and a nice sense of humor too. But not only do they write: they do quite a lot of reading too (esoteric stuff mainly such as scholarly treatises on geostrategic thinking and the finer points of economic science, which most of us do finely without, thank you) and then give you very readable, understandable summaries of them :)) So five stars in the amazon ranking to Quico and Katy, or as many as permissible in these domains! Julio -- Caracas

I have too little time to write this, but I feel obliged to state that this is a refreshingly level-headed site amid the chaos and hysterics that abound within our political opinionators. I also applaud the clarity of its language and its rare virtue of not pandering around. Also, the insight into the writings of Briceño Guerrero is to be thanked for.

Caracas Chronicles gives a comprehensive perspective of Venezuela's current affairs. This blog benefits greatly from the academic background of its authors, providing a great blend of politics and economics. Futhermore, both are gifted writers, have an excellent command of the English language with an adequate dosis of academia. Needless to say, this place makes us anti-Chavistas very happy, 'cause it "denounces and rejects" the Regime's wrongdoings. But most importantly Quico and Katy "keep their eyes on the ball", which is Venezuela's wellbeing and development. Finally, for people -like me- who lived in Venezuela, this blog also provides a much needed dose of nostalgia and connection to Venezuela. Keep up the good work!!

An excellent account of the bizarre political and economical situation currently in Venezuela. Very well written and presented, this blog certainly shows a lot of care and dedication. You may or may not agree with the ideas presented, but you can't deny their honesty.

great
I, an exiled Vzlan, came recommended by a good friend and completely stayed. I now read less online newspapers with the smokescreen of the day. I read almost daily, but sometimes keep checking the discussions along the day. One gets not just Quico, Katy and Lucia's deep, documented, academical views and links supporting the discussions, but also the on/off topic inputs of quality collaborators (use of the links depending on time/interest). One feels as having checked the global news (Venezuela/LA related) and having a natural discussion. Discussions are normally kept at "issues" level by the high level of readers and ocassional editing. Excellent command of english languaje amkes reading easy

For a few years now, this blog has become daily "required reading" for me and several others concerned with the future of Venezuela. I believe that Quico and Katy, (and sometimes Lucia) make a wonderful blogging team. Their knowledge of the subject is superb and they do a good job defending their positions on the issues of the day. However, what truly makes this blog special is the comment section and its devoted readers. Although I do not participate as much as I would want because time constraints, the topics and the comments are often enjoyable to read.

As good as it can get for a moderate view on Venezuelan political process. As far from the over-ideological pro-Chavez extremists positions as it is from the non-democratic oppo-nuts, CC's is the place to be (and to read) if you want a substantial/moderate/argu mentative vision from the Venezuelan over-educated. CC's is a must for both sides of the hyper-polarized Venezuelan political spectrum. Plus, you get some free additional stuff like the non-Rosseta Stone method for kanji learning or the ultimate tourist guide to la Laguna de Sinamaica.

FT, you once tried to lecture me about what the true motivations/intentions behind my site were. Then, I told you that I didn't care whether readers liked or disliked the contents of it, for I was doing it to counter official propaganda, expose chavismo and vent my anger about what was happening in Venezuela. Again time proved me right, as vcrisis readers can attest, there it languishes, unused, the only oppo blog indexed by Google News. In order to build traffic you should take a bit of that medicine you tried to give me once and think about who your target audience is, whether that audience is numerous and magnanimous enough to visit often, and whether your style is suited for mass consumption. As a loyal reader, who did build massive traffic for its site, and someone, paraphrasing you

In Caracas Chronicles, Quico And Katy connects you to your chavez inner hate, while you can access to venezuelan news in online newspapers and google, if you are a foreigner, it will make it easy too understand, I am a venezuelan and more in too venezuelan news now, than I ever been and the funny thing is im abroad. It doesnt just keep you up to date, but it also gives the dinner tabble discussions that makes room for you to form your own opinion. Quico will grab your interest right away from the simple things likes stories of his own experiences to the greatest analysis of Modern Venezuela.
