I thought we'd try something new at this blog: projects. We all work on them independently. Linking/posting isn't required, but it's always nice. It's a way to keep the creative juices flowing, as well as challenging yourself to think about things you...
A lot of people think haiku is the lazy person's poetry -- but they're wrong (and I daresay ignorant). Haiku is an art all its own. It relies on formula, but also style. And it's important to add your own flourishes to really make it your own.
Haiku...
Okay, so I haven't blogged in awhile. But I have an excuse! And it's a good one: I've been writing. Yes, I've been actually writing on my novel and I've had so much fun that I haven't been able to put it down.
Per a friend's suggestion, I'm rewriting...
In the above picture, you see the Greek goddess Athena. What does she say to you? What type of feminine air does she invoke in you? Is she timid, fussy, or frightened?
Take a closer look, and you'll see the answers to the questions I'm asking. She may...
So, I thought that it might be fun, periodically, to ask questions of the readers of this blog. Normally, these will be deeper, thought-provoking questions, but today I want to ask you: who wants to guest blog for me?
Yes, I'm looking for guest...
When visiting this blog for the first time, I was immediately stricken by the author's heartfelt passion for writing. This blog is intended to serve as not only an instructional resource, but also as a means to motivation for all writers, whether novice or expert. It serves both purposes beautifully. I rate this blog a definite 10.
As a professional editor, I am quite impressed by Carrie Eckles' latest blog. Miss Eckles is wise beyond her years, and has been dedicated to the writing craft for ten of them. Even if a writer believes that they need no more instruction, "Cogito, Ergo Scribit" will inspire both creativity and self-analysis. Writing is still the most important and effective means of communication; doing it with precision and grace is worthwhile. I'll be reading Carrie's helpful advice to fellow scribes on a regular basis.
It's really quite wonderful when a young person takes time to get things right!
This is a creative, interesting blog that utilizes so many different aspects of the blogger's talents.
This is an in-depth, gives-you-more-than-you-expected type of blog--the author of those posts has obviously slaved over them and put a lot into showing the skills and details of writing.
This blog is an instant TEN! She has stuff on there that I'm going to go back and look at the post on coming up with compelling plots. Yes, for me, the plot has to change, and soon.
Cogito Ergo Scribit is a new blog offering from Carrie Eckles. The descriptive Latin title is loosely translated to mean: I write; therefore, I am.
This new blog shows a lot of promise from the witty title to the attractive template with good font size selection and an editorial promise of helping aspiring writers to improve their mastery of the craft.
Though there are few blog posts to date, the ones in place indicate Ms. Eckles can give clear direction to those seeking to improve their writing.
Two thumbs up!
I like your blog. I have to tell myself, just as art is in the eye of the beholder, the same applies to writing. You provide good information and ideas to people such as myself who are starting out. At this point, there are other blogs people prefer which are geared more towards entertainment, gossip, fashion, technology, etc. The niche we are involved in is much smaller but that does not mean you do not have a great blog. Keep writing, as I will, and may each word continue to lead you to the next great story!
Visual Aesthetics: Aesthetics are good however there is a possibility to integrate Web 2.0 concepts like bigger fonts and full screen minimalist views. Nonetheless, it offers a pleasant experience and thus deserves 8/10
User Friendliness: Easier and neat navigation; not annoying advertisements. Ability to get connected using Google Friend Connect. Deserves 10/10
Reading Enjoyment: Great writing. Knows how to play with the words and the meanings. Enjoyable writing style. Deserves no less than 10/10.
Useful Info: Very useful. Meta-writing-tips are great. It would lead to positive results when followed appropriately. Deserves 10/10 again.
Overall Experience: Deserves 9.5% - A must see, must bookmark internet resource on the subject.
I found this blog excelent and written in a very inteligent way. The only reason I can find for the rated 6 from blogged is the lack of pictures. Sometimes is hard to read and the people who does the rating prefer to see the photos... I hope they will take a minute to read and apreciate this blog and also to put a better rating according to it quality.
