Two Weeks Without My Kids

Jul 3, 2009
I tend to not blog about what happened yesterday or last night. I find that waiting a week or two gives me time to really parse an experience and examine it in depth before I share it with the world. I’d rather grow and evolve and become more self...

Jul 2, 2009
Whether you’re married or divorced, take this one question relationship test: who picked your wedding cake? According to wedding planner Samantha Goldberg in an article she wrote for Cosmo, when the bride chooses the cake, it’s a sign she’s too...

Single Dads are Pathetic Womanizers and Partiers? WTF!

Jun 29, 2009
Leave it to a bitter divorced woman to paint a picture of single dads that belongs in caveman days. A blogger named Lollie wrote an open letter to Kate Gosselin – Dear Kate, Welcome to Single Motherhood, where she spews venom about what divorced men...

Here are the top three reasons that David Mott's blog, Dadshouse, is in my blog reader: (1) He acknowledges the complexity of working a relationship into a busy schedule in a way that I can relate to emotionally even though I'm not a single parent, (2) He gives concrete examples rather than hackneyed cliches--that level of specificity makes his advice actually applicable, and (3) the writing is actually great, which you can't say about over 90% of blogs out there. I'm a fan for good.

Great view into the world of a single dad. Not the dead-beat/ goofing around type of single dad, but the type that actually cares/takes care of his kids on top of trying to recreate relationships/have fun. Being a woman and mostly hearing from single women's point of views re. parenting, relationships, etc, it's very insightful for me to read about these experiences from a male perspective! I come to it regularly to see what the latest "Dad's House" experience has been- could be a kid-related story or some weird hook-up... either way, good writing/interesting/fun!

Dad’s House offers intelligent, witty insight into the life of a remarkable father and his single parenthood. His thoughts on being a father,ex-husband,single man,boyfriend,ex-boyfrien d,booty call partner, friend, cyclist, sailor and red hat-wearing camper are written in a way that appeals to an eclectic mix of dedicated readers. Whether 20's pick-up artist, 30's married/divorced/single moms & dads, or 40's childless (or is that childfree!) bachelors from all walks of life, DH’s humor, personality and style draw you in. You find yourself laughing out loud with coffee shooting out your nose one minute and sentimentally misty eyed the next. David is a gifted communicator; his blog makes you grateful he’s chosen to share his thoughts & stories and that you’ve stumbled across them.

Ever wonder what the search for love would be like for a single father? Try David Mott's blog, Dad's House. It's one of my favs. Strong writing, good humor, very real, very honest, and recipes to boot! it's everything I look for in a blog. Parenting isn't necessarily something I'm moved by, but David's take on his family and relationships in general are very compelling. Technically, his site is laid out well and easy on the eyes, so to speak, so it makes reading and returning no problem.
