We set out yesterday to raise $150,000 for Darcy Burner, taking pressure off her fundraising efforts so she and her family can rebuild their lives. In 24 hours, the netroots have moved past the halfway mark, with $85,000 raised (we started at the $250,000 mark). That's 17 days she can focus on rebuilding rather than fundraising. As Goldy says: This is more than just money, it is a gift of time and...

Back in March, I wrote a story laying out the rationale for drawing out a FISA fight that everyone expected us eventually to lose. ("We don't have the votes!") The basic premise: Every time Congressional Dems actually slow down and take stock of the situation -- from Senator Chris Dodd's brave (and lonely and seemingly futile) stand, to the cautious maneuvering of House Dems today -- new revelation...

CNN: With the dust having finally settled after the prolonged Democratic presidential primary, a new CNN/Opinion Research Corporation poll shows Sens. John McCain and Barack Obama locked in a statistical dead heat in the race for the White House. With just over four months remaining until voters weigh in at the polls, the new survey out Tuesday indicates Obama holds a narrow 5-point advantage among...

Your one stop pundit shop. Karl Rove says Barack Obama may be overreaching by spending money in North Carolina, Georgia, South Carolina, Indiana, Nebraska, Montana, Alaska and North Dakota, which means that Karl Rove is worried about losing North Carolina, Georgia, South Carolina, Indiana, Nebraska, Montana, Alaska and North Dakota. Doug Feith, once described as the "stupidest guy on the face of th...

The world's most influential website - it has remade the Democratic party entirely in its image and likeness, having installed Dean as chair, being directly responsible for the death of the centrist DLC, and winning the midterm Congressional elections not-so-long ago. However, if it is to be judged on its content, it pales in comparison to more informative, thoughtful sites (contrast with Marginal Revolution) and in its perpetual ranting does not allow its readers to make a judgment (contrast with Little Green Footballs, which makes its opinion clear but holds back on telling you everything you need to think). When more thoughtful and engaging Progressive blogs emerge, DailyKos will be a thing of the past. For now, it is beginning to represent the worst of US politics.

Americans should organize and declare a NO DRIVE, NO FLY, NO BUY day to bring economics issues to the forefront of all elected officials. Perhaps July 3 or July 5; where every person in the USA would stay home & go nowhere. Call in sick, take a vacation day or just don't show up for work, school, etc. On this day no one in America would DRIVE, FLY, or BUY ANYTHING. Every American would just stay home. This blog could and should organize and adverise this special day. Submitted By: Luther Crouthamel luther@wron.net
