Will We Really Be Able to Save on Health Care Costs (Without Just NOT Doing It?)

Jul 3, 2009
Bruce Bartlett ponders the question in his Forbes column today.  His conclusion: I don’t think any health expert doubts that it is possible for the U.S. to spend far less on health than it does today while improving the general quality of health....

The Recession and Revenues

Jul 1, 2009
Only budget dweebs like me would find this new CBO report on “Measuring the Effects of the Business Cycle on the Federal Budget” fascinating.  The study estimates “cyclically adjusted” levels of revenues, outlays and deficits–those that would occur...

House Climate Bill Gives Too Much Away

Jun 30, 2009
Donald Marron and I agree about what’s wrong with the House climate bill passed last week–just another example of how economists on different sides of the political aisle often share more common ground than any other two people on different sides of...

Jun 29, 2009

excellent
Outstanding blog. "Must read" information and commentary for anyone concerned about America's long-term fiscal imbalance...which should be everyone. EconomistMom cuts through all the political spin from partisans of both right and left, AND makes the relevant economic concepts understandable to non-economists.

Disappointing lack of economic rigor. If you're looking for a mom's scatterbrain thoughts on politics this is the blog for you. If you're looking for good economic analysis of economic issues, look elsewhere.
