I am a teacher, and I wrote "In the Trenches: A Teacher's Defense of Public Education." This blog continues the themes of that book: public schools are important, their job is becoming increasingly difficult, and they are doing a much better job than they are given credit for.

I always look forward to reading Dennis' entries. The fact that he gets so many responses from his readers shows how effective his blog is in discussing educational issues that should be important to all of us.
