I consider myself an "advanced beginner" runner. I started running in the summer of 2002. First, 5Ks, a couple of 10Ks, and then a half in 2004. In 2005, I did my first marathon, San Diego RNR. I personalized my running bib to say "Just 1 2 Finish", figuring it would set the right expectation and also embarrass the heck out of me if I quit during the race (like anyone's really reading these bibs?). Nevertheless, it worked.
