MandM: Matthew and Madeleine Flannagan

The MandM blog addresses Christian philosophy, theology, ethics, jurisprudence, civil liberties, politics and social commentary from a distinctly kiwi perspective, utilising a deliberate blend of academic and popular writings, with a good measure of dry humour. MandM also share snippets of their life, their family, their aspirations and careers.

More from Author: Academic writings, and those who write them, can be seen to be out of touch with the ‘real world.’ Christians seeking to engage the ‘real world’ can unintentionally fall into a sub-culture that seems cutting and with it to other Christians but in fact misses the mark. MandM apply high calibre Christian philosophy to public discourse with a good dose of real life. The resulting blend showcases the academic heights Christianity can aspire to and demonstrates the practicality of such projects for the average Christian living in the ‘real world.’

September 11

Today I reflect, as do many, where I was and what I was doing when I first heard about the attacks on the World Trade Tower. Like my parents generation’s remembrance of where they were and what they were doing when Kennedy was assassinated and their...

Goff on Labour's Mistakes: What about Fixing a Few Phil?

Sep 10, 2009
I have got to give it to Phil Goff, the more I hear from him the more I like. I grew up in a Social Credit family. I lived in Uncle Gary’s East Coast Bays electorate, my mum was even his electorate secretary at one point. I remember watching my father...

Darwinian Evolution, God and Ockham's Razor

Sep 10, 2009
In a previous post, Darwinian Evolution, Chance and Design, I argued that the contention that Darwinian evolution occurs by chance does not entail that it shows the world was not designed. Once one sees how the concept of chance is defined in...

superb
Christian blogs don't get better than MandM. Funny, smart, sharp, perspectives that you missed until you read MandM and suddenly its obvious. The balance of intellectual with popular and general life really works. MandM engage the public square and do so with style.
