Then Royal Artillery Regiments and supporting units until its closure in 1995. Finally becoming home to football training pitches to BVB 09 Borussia Dortmund alongside a new housing complex. ,HI MARK ,YOU HAVE JUST TOOK ME BACK SOME YEARS,BACK TO 1959 WHEN I WAS IN NAPIER BARRACKS.I WAS IN 4 SPHINX BATTERY 47 REGT,BACK IN THOSE DAYS THE ACCOMODATION WAS FIRST CLASS ,LOOKING AT THOSE PHOTOS THE PLACE REALLY DID GO DOWN THE NICK. YES I WORKED ALONGSIDE THE USA DETATCHMENT,WE LOADED THE WARHEADS AND FUELLED THE MISSILES.USED TO GO TO THE OUTER HEBRIDES EACH YEAR TO FIRE THEM I LEFT DORTMUND LATE 64 ON A PE RELEASE COURSE,ITHINK THE REGT DISBANDED SOON AFTER THAT AND WERE EQUIPED WITH 105 SP ABBOTS.IM NEW TO THIS PC LARK BUT ILL WATCH THIS SPACE
