Kamelot Auctions in Philadelphia will be selling this inlaid credenza on April 12th, but I imagine that their turnout will not be as strong this time around as they have timed their sale simultaneously with opening day of the Philadelphia Antiques Show.As you can see from the image above, there is a carved female head figure affixed to this cabinet - and no, that doesn't mean that it is made by Joh...

I apologize for the lack of posts recently and will also apologize for possible continuation of that malady. My house was on the local historic home tour this past weekend and we have been gearing up for that for some time. We also are the owners of a new Portuguese Water Dog puppy who almost stole the show at the house tour over the house and it's period antiques. He requires constant supervision...

St. Charles Gallery is selling two pieces of attributed Alexander Roux furniture that they describe as being in the form of the "A Rose" pattern. This is my first exposure to this purported pattern. I am unable to find any reference to it anywhere else, though maybe Rare Victorian readers who have run across it before have more information. Here's a nice inlaid and gold-incised Canterbury (music stand) coming up for sale via Ebay Live Auctions. This form is a more tapered shape whereas I personally own one that is more of a squared-off shape. Well, another Rare Victorian contest comes to a close and we have our winner. Thanks to everyone who contributed there, contest or not.
