The Mets are 4 1/2 games out of first place. By the end of the weekend, they could either be 8 1/2 back or a half game.  It likely won't be either, but a split doesn't help them as far as the standings go....

Mets are up 9-0 in the third, breaking out in a big way before their series at Philadelphia. Talking to the boys before the game they kept saying they had a big game tonight. That's keeping the focus....

The inevitable finally happened and the Mets placed Luis Castillo on the disabled list. The Mets brought up from Triple-A New Orleans infielder Argenis Reyes and outfielder Chris Aguila. Pitcher Carlos Muniz was optioned after last night's game....
