Unknowingly, I have written the diary of Venezuela slow descent into authoritarianism, the slow erosion of our liberties, the takeover of the country by a military caste, the surrendering of our soul to our inner demons.

I do not have time to translate this editorial of Tal Cual today. But Teodoro seems to be quite well informed, and intuitive, about Ramiro Valdes visit real objectives. A fascinating read where the main point would be that Fidel is getting scared...
In the truth is stranger than fiction category.
First we had the words of Chavez that he was the incarnation of the people, like, you know, the state as in "L'état, c'est moi" of that famous Sun King. You can watch the video and wait for the segment...
The rejection of Ramiro Valdes has been so strong, so fast, so complete that if chavismo had any hope to link such a rejection to a maneuver from the CIA, well, it is too late. I know Ramiro is a desensitized hard core Fidel assassin but I wonder what...
Today on my way back to San Felipe I had to dodge out dozens of dozens of buses parked anywhere around Los Ilustres, creating major traffic jams: Chavez had mandated all of his provincial subjects to show up red shirted in Caracas or else. After the...
I have been in Caracas these past few days, and repression and all I simply have had no time to to worry much about Chavez. Or tire you with my worries. Besides, repression is becoming such a matter of fact while Chavez celebrates his 11 years in...
Daniel manages to relay with superb clarity that which is the Chavez regime. With frequent updates and a good mixture of content this blog is always a good read.
I am not in exile, I´m stuck HERE with 26 Million more !!!! I´m one of the local folks that recurrently visit this blog. What I find more refreshing is the view from the provinces that in our day to day is left behind. There are two or more realities that are ignored from us in the cities and in the fight for surviving this horrendous regime, we simply ignore them many times over.
Top notch ranking for Daniel´s blog and his accute and sharp accumen
This blog for me is an important bridge to my beloved Venezuela. It is my main source for knowing what is really happening in politics and also in daily life there.I trust Daniel's view, love his humor, his wit, and insight - as almost everyday I look forward to reading his posts.
All my thanks and with great admiration....
I am a Venezuelan practically exiled in the United States driven not only by choice but by the present circumstances in Venezuela. When I discovered Daniel's blog a few years ago, I was impressed not only by his intelligent analysis of important events in Venezuela but also by his prose. His writing has continued to improve. It would not be a stretch to regard Daniel as one of the most authoritative bloggers currently in Venezuela. The fact that he continues to report from inside Venezuela in San Felipe, is a testament to his courage and devotion to our beloved Venezuela. Thank you so much for your work Daniel. I would love to have the opportunity to emulate your work in a not so distant future.
Venezuela News and Views is an example of the blogging medium at its very best. Daniel Duquenal's courageous, street-level reports of what is happening in the Cuba of our generation are deeply insightful and cogent. His hour-by-hour coverage of the Constitutional Referendum in December was some of the most mesmerizing reading I have ever enjoyed. If VNV is not a 10, I can't imagine what a 10 would be.
