A group of consumer advocates, academics and economists want to end "too-big-to-fail" banks, starting with Bank of America Corp.
The group, led by onsumer advocacy organization Public Citizen, plans to file a petition with the Federal Reserve Board and other regulators on Wednesday asking them to carve the bank into simpler, safer pieces.
One in three workers worldwide is either living in poverty or unemployed -- a share that totals about 1.1 billion people -- according to the International Labour Organization's Global Employment Trends 2012 report. And the employment crisis may actually be worse than many think. The report found that if all of the nearly 29 million workers that were expected to participate in the labor force before the 2008 financial crisis were taking part, than the global unemployment rate would swell to 6.9 percent from its current 6 percent.

Netflix Inc said on Wednesday that it expects Amazon.com Inc to brand its video streaming offering as standalone service.
Netflix also said it expects Amazon's standalone service to be priced below its own service.
Netflix made the prediction in a letter to shareholders that was posted on its website Wednesday.
Occidental Petroleum Corp. kicked off the oil industry's fourth-quarter earnings results Wednesday. It announced a net profit increase of 35% to $1.63 billion compared to the same quarter a year ago as the company rode the crest of a high oil-price wave and record U.S. crude production levels.
Westwood-based Occidental is the nation's fourth largest oil exploration and production company.
The big red envelope at Netflix is about to be full of court-related documents as angry investors have hit them with a class-action lawsuit saying they've withheld information from them just prior to a stock fall late last year. This lawsuits is being filed down in Northern California in U.S. District Court by the City of Royal Oak Retirement System, and is being filed on behalf of "all plaintiffs similarly situated."

Marketing process automation software vendor Neolane has secured $27 million in funding in a round led by Battery Ventures, an investor in companies like Groupon, ExactTarget, Marketo, Bazaarvoice, Lotame and BlueKai.
