Review: THE BLIND SIDE

THE BLIND SIDE is not a football movie. THE BLIND SIDE is a movie about what it means to be a family. It’s a about how families don’t always fit into nice, neat little molds and that a family can consist of any number of arrangements. It just so happens those arrangements can include a football team as well as an unlikely family that takes another human being into their care, regardless of social taboo. This is the story of Michael Oher.  comment Comment

Movie Review: Planet 51

Planet 51 isn’t going to wow you, but as a first animated feature from Ilion Animated Studios it’s better than I expected. The story is pretty simple: a peaceful world is invaded by an alien explorer, and with the help of a goodhearted youngster and his friends he eludes the government and attempts to get back home.  comment Comment

Movies
I was always taught that if you’re going to do something, you might as well do it right. And in my mind, there isn’t a more apt application for such a life theory than in the adaptation of popular novels into films. When you think about these popular literary franchise — many of whom have rabid fan bases — it is hard to imagine making a movie (or in this case, two) out of them that are subpar. As we’ve seen with the Harry Potter franchise, the key is to take the story from the books and build upon it. Find good actors, dazzle the fan base with great special effects and make the film’s accessible enough so....  comment 1 Comment

Michael Moore is one of the most commercially successful documentary filmmakers of the past decade, certainly. Frankly? The Academy of Motion Picture Arts isn’t impressed. They don’t care that Moore’s latest accomplishment, Capitalism: A Love Story, made $14M at the box office which is a huge amount for a documentary.  comment Comment

One of Miley Cyrus’ tour bus drivers was killed and another 9 people were injured and taken to a local hospital after the bus flipped over on a highway in Virginia on Thursday night (November 19). Miley was not on the bus involved in the still unexplainable accident. Authorities are investigating if the driver died before or after the crash since they can’t explain why the bus with 14 passengers drifted off the road. We will keep you updated. UPDATE: Miley’s manager said, “It was one of our tour buses, but not Miley’s. It was one of our buses that transported our lighting crew.”  comment 2 Comments
