FX Network Gets First TV Crack at Twilight Series

In a bidding war that must have resembled Las Vegas, cable channel FX (standing for Fox extended) has secured the rights to the Twilight movie franchise. Under the new deal, FX will start airing the first “Twilight,” movie in the fall of 2011. “New Moon,” which hauled in $142.8-million in the US alone last weekend, will air a year later, and “Twilight: Eclipse,” which debuts nationwide on June 30 next year will begin its commercial-riddled tenure on FX in 2013.

The Howling To Be Reborn, And Where Have All the Werewolves Gone?

It seems that Joe Dante’s The Howling is now up for remaking. Tonight we’ve learned that Joe Nimziki, a former studio marketing executive, will be making his feature film debut with The Howling: Reborn. Nimziki also wrote the script. The original Howling spawned a series of sequels that, from what I can remember, were pretty much all crap. Could this remake be any better? The original film was based upon a book of the same name by Gary Brandner, but apparently the film differed significantly.

The first TV spot for “The Descent: Part 2,” starring Shauna MacDonald, Myanna Burning, Alex Reid, Saskia Mulder, Nora-Jane Noone, Natalie Jackson Mendoza, Gavan O’Herlihy, Joshua Dallas, Anna Skellern, Douglas Hodge and Krysten Cummings, has appeared online. Distraught, injured and covered in the blood of her missing companions, Sarah is incoherent and half-wild with fear.

Weekend Box Office: 'New Moon' Lives Up to the Hype

Sometimes a movie will consume the internet for weeks before its release, and then turn out to be Snakes on a Plane. This is not one of those times. New Moon didn't set the all time opening weekend box office record, but it came uncomfortably close, and -- holy crap -- it now owns the record for the highest single-day gross ever, a $72 million Friday.

Bulls Escape Tom Cruise & Cameron Diaz Movie Set

Actor Tom Cruise and his co-star Cameron Diaz, who have been on a short break, are set to resume filming their upcoming movie Knight & Day. On Sunday, seven bulls that are being used in the movie broke free from the Cadiz, Spain set. Two women received minor injuries as the stampeding bulls ditched their confines. The powerful animals, undoubtedly looking for a change of pace, escaped from their downtown location and headed for the beach. Director Jose Luis Escolar isn’t sure how the bulls broke free. Perhaps they had a little help?

Review: THE BLIND SIDE

THE BLIND SIDE is not a football movie. THE BLIND SIDE is a movie about what it means to be a family. It’s a about how families don’t always fit into nice, neat little molds and that a family can consist of any number of arrangements. It just so happens those arrangements can include a football team as well as an unlikely family that takes another human being into their care, regardless of social taboo. This is the story of Michael Oher.

Movie Review: Planet 51

Planet 51 isn’t going to wow you, but as a first animated feature from Ilion Animated Studios it’s better than I expected. The story is pretty simple: a peaceful world is invaded by an alien explorer, and with the help of a goodhearted youngster and his friends he eludes the government and attempts to get back home.

Will Ferrell Is Overpaid (That Depends On Your Definition) According To Forbes

Forbes magazine has released their annual list of Hollywood's most overpaid stars, and sometimes-funny funnyman Will Ferrell is number one. The rankings are calculated by factoring in the production costs of an actor's movies over the past five years against how much boxoffice, DVD and other revenue they generated in order to come up with an operating income for each film.

Kevin McKidd Talks Call of Duty and Rome Movies

Kevin McKidd deserves to be a bigger star than he is. The Rome and Journeyman star has been on Grey’s Anatomy for the past year or so, but even that’s not enough to get me watching Grey’s again....
