12 Angry Men (1957) - Movie Dramas

12 Angry Men (1957) image Sidney Lumet directed his first movie in 1957. The movie is 12 Angry Men and is based on the play by Reginald Rose. The screenplay was originally produced for television and broadcast on Studio One on CBS in 1954. The television film’s success resulted in the film adaptation.

12 Angry Men is the story of a jury member who tries to persuade the other members to acquit the suspect on trial for murder on the basis of reasonable doubt. The majority of the film takes place on one set, the jury room. Only two jurors are named, the rest are anonymous. The defendant in the murder case is referred to as “the boy” and the witnesses as the “old man” and “the lady across the street.” The Library of Congress selected 12 Angry Men in 2007 for preservation in the United States National Film Registry on the basis of being culturally, historically, or aesthetically significant.
