21 Jump Street was an hour-long police drama that debuted on the Fox network in 1987. Aimed towards a young audience, the show followed the exploits of police officers with youthful looks and their attempts to tackle crime in the big city. The show’s themes often centered around contemporary youth issues such as drug abuse, alcohol, sex, AIDS, and homophobia. Each episode typically ended with some time of moral as well as a public service announcement that followed.

21 Jump Street also served as a vehicle for launching the career of Johnny Depp. The show notably dropped in popularity following his departure in the 4th season.
