Johnny Depp, Amanda Wyss, Nick Corri, John Saxon, Ronee Blakley, and Robert Englund as
Freddy Krueger. The film was also the feature film debut of
Johnny Depp.
The movie takes place in the fictional town of Springwood, Ohio, and the plot involves teenagers who are terrorized while they dream by the ghost of a child murderer named Freddy Kreuger. The film’s budget was $1.8 million; it earned over $25 million at the box office in the United States. A Nightmare on Elm Street was so successful it would go on to
spawn six sequels and one crossover movie (Freddy vs. Jason).
