Adrienne Vittadini - Fashion Designers

Adrienne Vittadini image Adrienne Vittadini designed collections that are inspired by traveling, pop culture and art that are all about being casual. The line is aimed at women who enjoy expressing themselves through sophistication --- "feminine without fussiness." The collection tries to balance elegance and practicality for the women with modern lifestyles.

Adrienne Vittadini (knows as the Queen of Kits) started her line in 1979 and reinvented knitwear and turned into sportswear. She believed that knitwear was more than just sweaters and creates her collections based on a mood or feeling. This vision allowed women to wear clothes that were appropriate for the office and for casual setting. With the use of all-natural fibers, the practical and casual ease and the feminine appeal, the knitwear designs come across as sophisticated and stylish. Adrienne Vittadini mixes European elegance with American practicality which make it a perfect fit for most women.

The company suffered in the mid-1990s at the hand of several owners. The line wasn't selling and Adrienne Vittadindi launched a more competitively priced line, AV Options and soon sold her business to Marisa Christina Inc (a knitwear company). That didn't work out. Marisa Christina Inc sold the Vittadini brand to V&P Inc, which went bankrupt. However, in a lucky break Vittadini was bought by Claudio del Vecchio's Casual Corner came along and bought the brand. While Casual Corner had thousands of stores across the U.S., Vittadini would not be sold in any of them. Instead the company planed to open Adrienne Vittadini shops. Adrienne Vittadini herself approved.
