Alias was an action spy dram that aired on ABC from 2001 to 2006 (5 season) that stared
Jennifer Garner (Sydney Bristow) and Victor Garbor (Jack Bristow). The show, created by J.J. Abrams, focused the the life of Sydney Bristow, a CIA secret agent who had to keep her government career a secret from her friends. Sydney would often take on different aliases and disguises and complete missions around the world.
The show was part drama, fantasy and action. The show became a hit mainly due to the show's movie style format and having a female action lead. Before Alias, there weren't any strong female action leads in a network show. Garner became a star with her portrayal and opened the door for more lead female action leads in future shows.
The show spawned many original novels, video games, and has been referenced and spoofed in the media. The show was never considered a big hit and at times struggled in the ratings, the show was extremely popular and the network was struggling itself, the show was able to survive for five seasons.
