Allan Houston - NBA Basketball

Allan Houston began his NBA career when he was the 11th overall pick in the 1993 draft by the Detroit Pistons. Houston finished his rookie year with the Pistons averaging 8.5 ppg. His average of points per game doubled over the next two seasons in his career. In 1996, Houston became a free agent and signed with the New York Knicks to begin the new season. Allan Houston helped lead his team to the 1999 NBA Finals and also was named to the NBA All-star game in the years of 2000 and 2001.
Houston's career began to slow down in 2001 when he signed the maximum contract extension with the Knicks. The Knicks then faced trouble with the NBA salary cap. Due to the fact that Houston's career was worth so much money and his injuries began to increase he was nearly un-tradeable. His injury followed Allan throughout 2003 to 2005 because he refused to have surgery. He announced his retirement in October of 2005. Houston attempted a brief comeback in 2007, but after seeing only a few minutes of playing time during preseason Houston announced his retirement once again. Houston played on the United States men's basketball team in 2000 and went on to win the gold medal.
