Amy Poehler is a famous American actress and comedian who is best known for being a cast member on the sketch comedy show
Saturday Night Live. In college she was in the improve comedy troupe, My Mother’s Fleabag, the oldest such troupe in America. From there she went on to join the prestigious Second City with the likes of
Tina Fey. She also studied and taught at the ImprovOlympic.
While at Second City, she met Matt Besser, of the Upright Citizens Brigade. With Matt Walsh and Ian Roberts, the pair went on to perform improve and sketch comedy in New York and Chicago. Other initial Upright Citizens Brigade members included Horatio Sanz, Rick Roman, Neil Flynn, and Adam McKay. In 1998, a short lived television show called The Upright Citizens Brigade on Comedy Central would follow and star Poehler, Besser, Walsh, and Roberts. The show would earn Poehler great recognition, and in 2001, she joined the cast of
Saturday Night Live.
