Andrea Bargnani started his basketball career in 2002 with Stella Azzura Roma in Italy's Serie B2 Division. After 2002, he went to play with Benetton Treviso in Italy's Lega A League. He played in Europe from 2002 to 2005 until he entered the NBA draft in 2006. Bargnani was the first European player to be drafted with the first overall draft pick. He was also the first player drafted in the NBA Draft without previous High School or College experience in the US. In 2006, Andrea won the Euroleague Rising Star Award. In 2007, he was selected as a member of the NBA All-Rookie First team as well as the NBA Rookie of the Month in January and February. He also was a member of the Atlantic Division Champions with the Toronto Raptors in 2007.
