The worldwide sensation that has taken its place as one of Apple’s flagship products. The iPhone is a multimedia smartphone with a multi-touch screen using an interface that has both revolutionized and galvanized the mobile phone industry. This small device has already made Apple the third largest mobile phone manufacturer after Nokia and
Samsung despite having been on the market just one year.
The iPhone incorporates an LCD touchscreen with scratch-resistant glass that was designed specifically for use with a finger. Virtually all of the input is given through touch and Apple has gone further by implementing their own brand of multi-touch allowing complex gestures to allow actions such as zooming or scrolling on screen. Complimenting the touch interface is Apple’s own version of the Mac operating system specifically designed for the iPhone. The result is an easy to use, intuitive phone that gives a distinctive Apple experience.
The most current iteration is the iPhone 3G which supports higher download speeds than the previous first generation device. The iPhone is available in a variety of international markets, but due to an exclusivity agreement that expires in 2010, the iPhone is only currently offered in concert with AT&T service in the U.S.
