Ashlee Simpson is an American pop singer and sister to fellow pop singer
Jessica Simpson. Riding the coattails of her famous sister, she rose to fame in 2004 with her first album and a reality show entitled the Ashlee Simpson show. A first major hit was the song “Pieces of Me” off her first album, Autobiography. Other Ashlee Simpson hits include “La La”, “Shadow”, “Boyfriend”, and “L.O.V.E.”.
She was the cause of great controversy in 2005 after a mishap during a performance on the show
Saturday Night Live showed her to be lip-synching. She received a lot of negative press and criticism and she was even heavily booed during a performance of the song “La La” at halftime of that year’s Orange Bowl game.
In her personal life, she has been connected to the likes of Josh Henderson, Ryan Cabrera, Wilmer Valderrama (who had been dating
Lindsay Lohan, the subject of the song “Boyfriend”), and Pete Wentz. In 2008, she married Wentz, the bass player for the pop band Fall Out Boy. She then officially changed her name to Ashlee Simpson-Wentz, and the couple now have a child named Bronx Mowgli Wentz.
