BMW M is both a line of vehicles and a subsidiary company under German automaker
BMW. Originally established in 1972, M stands for “motorsport” and was originally intended to increase
BMW’s presence in the racing circuit as well produce street legal cars with high performance specifications. While
BMW vehicles are typically high performance machines in their own right, M series vehicles take it a step further with aggressive tuning and engine designs.
Current official M cars include the M3, the M5, M6, M Coupe, and M Roadster.
