Caroline Kennedy - Political Profiles

Caroline Kennedy image Caroline Kennedy is the daughter of U.S. President John F Kennedy and Jacqueline Bouvier Kennedy. An author and an attorney, she is the only surviving child of the former White House family.

Caroline Kennedy was born in New York City in 1957 while her father was still serving in the U.S. Senate. She received her A.B. from Radcliffe College at Harvard University and went on to get a J.D. from Columbia Law School. She married exhibit designer Edwin Schlossberg in 1986 and is often improperly referred to as “Caroline Kennedy Schlossberg” despite having never changed her name. Her career has mainly centered around authoring several books on civil liberties as well serving on the boards of numerous non-profit organizations.

During the 2008 U.S. presidential campaign, Caroline Kennedy supported Democratic candidate Barack Obama for president, the first time she had ever publicly endorsed an American presidential candidate. The experience, she says, has inspired her to participate in public office and is now openly lobbying to be appointed to former Senator Hilary Clinton’s U.S. Senate seat for New York State. There is currently some controversy as to whether her qualifications are sufficient for the job as well as adverseness over using her influential name for political gain.
