Paul Haggis directed,produced and wrote the 2004 American/German drama film Crash.The movie is about the racial and social tensions in Los Angeles. Brendan Fraser, Sandra Bullock, Matt Dillon, Chris "Ludacris" Bridges and Larenz Tate are the stars in the movie.The plot of the movie depicts several characters living in Los Angeles during a period of 36 hours and are brought together through car collisions, shootings, and carjacking.
The movie was premiered at Toronto Fim Festival in September ,2004. However, it was released on May 6, 2005 by Lions Gate Entertainment and Bob Yari Productions to positive reviews. The film's budget was $6.5 million and due to the financial constraints,Higgs filmed the movie in his own house,borrowed a set from the TV show Monk and used his and his staff member's cars at many places in the movie.
The movie grossed over $98 million at the box office. Crash got six nominations in the 78th Academy Awards and won three of them for Best Picture, Best Original Screenplay and Best Editing.
