Diablo is an action oriented RPG series of computer games developed by Blizzard Entertainment. Like
Starcraft, it has maintained its popularity in the decades since its release in 1997. At the time of its release, critics awarded Diablo near-perfect scores owing to its level of quality and appeal. As of 2008, the Diablo series has sold over 18 million copies and continues to attract new fans. The third sequel, Diablo III is currently under production but the release date has yet to be announced.
Diablo is set in a world called Sanctuary where both angels and demons are engaged in conflict. Diablo, the lord of terror is the main antagonist who naturally is trying to take over/destroy the world through some evil scheme. Players take control of a character and engage in combat in real-time. As players level up, more abilities and spells become available as well as a overall increase in your character’s power. Three character classes are available: the warrior, rogue, and sorcerer. Diablo is also very replayable due to the fact that levels are randomly generated. As a result, no two completions of the game are ever exactly the same. Multiplayer over the internet is also available.
