Drew Barrymore is a famous American actress. Coming from a historic acting family, she began her career as a child star, getting her debut in the film Altered States at age 5.
Soon after, she catapulted to fame in the Steven Spielberg film ET: The Extra-Terrestrial, playing the role of Gertie. She even went on to host
Saturday Night Live at the tender age of seven (her four times since ties the record for a female host on the program).
After her childhood success she ran into trouble in her teen years, including problems with drinking, marijuana, cocaine, suicide, a short lived marriage, and flashing David Letterman on national television.
She sobered up and emerged from her teen years determined to become an adult actress, starring in such films as Poison Ivy, Bad Girls,
Batman Forever, Everyone Says I Love You, and eventually the horror film Scream, which launched her back into the public’s good graces. Since then she has gone on to great success in films such as The Wedding Singer, Ever After, 50 First Dates, and the very successful Charlie’s Angels series which she produced.
She continues to be a major star as an actress, but it is through her production company, Flower Films, where she is having the most impact.
