Ellen was a sitcom that aired on ABC from 1994 to 1998. The show centered around the character of Ellen Morgan, a neurotic 30-something bookstore owner who has to deal with her friends, daily life and dating.
The show made TV history in 1997 when the lead character, Ellen, came out as a lesbian. The storyline caused a wide range of discussion and controversy but it also brought the show into the spotlight. The show was never a huge hit but it did attract a good amount of viewers.
