In the movie Failure to Launch, Matthew McConaughey plays Tripp, a successful man in his thirties that seems to have it all. His advertising career has taken off, he has his good looks and he can get any girl he wants. Tripp does not look to settle down with any particular girl any time soon, but his parents would like that to change because of one reason; Tripp still lives with his parents. Tripp's parents, played by Kathy Bates and Terry Bradshaw, hire Paula, played by Sarah Jessica Parker. Paula, an interventionist, is asked to get Tripp to fall in love with her and persuade him to move out of his parents' house. Her plan has worked on every client thus far, until she meets Tripp. The one thing holding her back from sealing the deal is the fact that, for the first time in her career, began falling for her client.
The film hit theaters on March 10, 2006. It was directed by Tom Dey and co-written by Tom Astle and Matt Ember. The Paramount Pictures film grossed over $128 million worldwide.
