Police detective John Hobbs (Denzel Washington) is trying to find a copycat of the serial killer Edgar Reese. He finds the copycat is a demon who goes by Azazel. Azazel can change from one body to another by simply touching them. He can never die unless there is no boy for him to jump into, as he goes on changing bodies he looks like he is setting Hobbs up as the killer.
