Firefly was as science fiction series by Joss Whedon that aired on FOX from 2002 to 2003 (one season). The show was set in the year 2517 and follows the journey of a renegade group on the spaceship
Serenity.
The series developed a loyal fan base and made it a cult hit, but the ratings never climbed and the show was canceled after one season. As a way to properly finish the story, a film version of the show was made.
