Sean S. Cunningham directed and produced the 1980 American horror film Friday the 13th. Victor Miller provided the script. The movie was inspired by the success of John Carpenter’s Halloween. The film involves a group of teenagers who open the abandoned Camp Crystal Lake years after a boy drowned. The film starred Betsy Palmer, Adrienne King, Harry Crosby, Laurie Bartram, Mark Nelson, Jeannine Taylor, Robbi Morgan, and Kevin Bacon in one of his earliest film roles. The film’s budget was $550 thousand; it grossed over $59.7 million at the box office worldwide. Friday the 13th was the first in the film franchise. There is a re-imaging of the original movie in development. The re-imaged movie is planned to be released on Friday 13, 2009.
