
Gael Garcia Bernal is a world-famous Mexican actor. Garcia Bernal began acting at a young age on Mexican television. As a teen he taught reading to indigenous people in Mexico. He also became involved in peaceful political demonstrations in his later teen years. After becoming a well-known heart throb in Mexican telenovelas, he went on to study drama in Europe.
From there, he has become Mexico’s best known actor, appearing in some of his country’s biggest and most successful movies including Amores Perros, Y Tu Mama Tambien, and El Crimen del Padre Amaro. He has achieved mainstream success for his portrayal of rebel icon Che Guevara in the 2004 film The Motorcycle Diaries, which chronicled the Latin American patriot’s early years traveling around South America. He has appeared in many successful and acclaimed English language films including The Science of Sleep, The King, and Babel.
In his personal life, he and actress Dolores Fonzi are expecting their first child.
