Mel Brooks and Buck Henry’s 1960s spy parody television series, Get Smart, was adapted by director Peter Segal. The film stars
Steve Carell as secret agent Maxwell Smart and Anna Hathaway as Agent 99. The film also stars Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson, Alan Arkin, Terence Stamp, James Caan, Terry Crews, Masi Oka, Larry Miller, Patrick Warburton, and Dalip “The Great Khali” Singh. Bernie Kopell and Bill Murray make camero appearances.
The film was released on June 20, 2008 to lukewarm reviews. Get Smart suffered from comparisons to the original television series. There is a sequel in the works with
Steve Carell and Anna Hathaway reprising their roles.
