Gran Turismo - Gaming

An extremely popular and critically acclaimed racing video game series developed by Polyphony Digital in cooperation with Sony. The games are exclusively developed for the Sony Playstation line of systems. One of the main hallmarks of Gran Turismo is the extreme attention paid to detail and sense of realism. The performance of each car is individually tuned according to their real world specifications and performance after undergoing extensive experimentation by the game development team. The real life sounds of each individual car are also recorded for added driving immersion. Lastly, Gran Turismo with each successive installment always employs a cutting edge graphics engine resulting in some of the most visually realistic driving experiences ever found on a home console system. As such, Gran Turismo is often referred to not so much as a racing game, but a driving simulator. The majority of game play in fact occurs in the game’s simulation mode as opposed to its arcade mode. Players race to earn credits to further upgrade their vehicles through modifications or purchase new cars altogether. Sony considers Gran Turismo one of its flagship products and is routinely touted as one of the main reasons for buying a Sony Playstation system.
