Honda Motor Company is a multinational company based in Japan responsible for the development of automobiles, engines, and various other high-technology products. It is currently the 5th largest auto maker in the world as well as the largest manufacturer of internal combustion engines. Some of Honda’s lesser known products include electrical generators, marine equipment, jet engines, and gardening equipment.
Founded in 1948 in Minato, Japan by Soichiro Honda, Honda has created a reputation for extremely reliable vehicles that retain a great deal of their value years after their initial purchase. In the U.S., the Honda Civic and Accord are consistently ranked as some of the top selling vehicles year by year. Its luxury brand, Acura is also highly praised in its home markets of the U.S., Canada and Hong Kong.
Despite the economic downturn, Honda was still able to report a 1% sales increase in contrast to its rivals due to their flexible, fuel-efficient car lineup as well incorporating innovative design elements in their factories which allow them to produce any Honda model that is currently in demand.
Honda is currently investing heavily in expanding its series of hybrid and electric vehicles in anticipation of greater demand and more unstable fuel prices.
