The Eastman Kodak Company, more commonly referred to as just “Kodak” is a multinational corporation based in Rochester, New York. Founded in 1888 by George Eastman, the Kodak name came from the first rolls of film in their product line simply called “Kodak.” The letter “K” was also among Eastman’s favorites. Today, Kodak produces a range of imaging equipment and photographic materials. Although long known for their camera film, the prominence of digital images has forced them to refocus.
Among Kodak’s notable achievements is inventing the world’s first digital camera in 1975, and developing the first megapixel sensor in 1986. Kodak film is also known for having played an important role in the development of the motion picture industry.
