Longchamp specializes in French leather and luxury goods. The company was founded by Jean Cassegrain in 1948. In 1955 Longchamp expanded to include small leather goods and opened its first factory in Segre. Longchamp expanded its boutiques into Hong Kong and Japan by the 1970s; it became known for its lightweight travel goods. In 1980, the current company president, Philippe Cassegrain expanded the retail line into Belgium and Germany. Today Longchamp is known as a leather goods firm.
