The Los Angeles Lakers are a Western Conference, Pacific Division NBA basketball team based in Los Angeles, California. Founded in 1946 as part of the National Basketbal League(NBL) before joining the NBA in 1948, they have since won 30 division titles, 29 conference titles, and 15 championships(some of which were part of the NBL). Their home arena is the Staples Center in Los Angeles and the current head coach is Phil Jackson, former coach of the
Chicago Bulls. The Lakers’s owner is Jerry Buss.
Prominent Lakers players have included Earvin “Magic” Johnson, Kareem Abdul Jabbar,
Wilt Chamberlain, James Worthy, Gail Goodrich, Shaquille O’Neal, and
Kobe Bryant.
