
Mark Wahlberg is an American musican and actor who first rose to prominence in 1991 with the rap song “Good Vibrations” from his band Marky Mark and the Funky Bunch. His brother Donnie Wahlberg also became quite famous during this time with his group the New Kids on the Block (which Mark Wahlberg was a member of in their early days).
After the music fads that spawned these projects died, Mark Wahlberg came back into the spotlight as a burgeoning actor. He got his start in the films The Substitute, Renaissance Man, The Basketball Diaries, and Fear. His acting in these films showed promise, but it was his role in 1998’s Boogie Nights that got Hollywood’s attention that he was becoming a serious actor. In the film her played the character Dirk Diggler who rose to fame in the 70s in the world of porno.
From there, Wahlberg accumulated a string of hit films to his credit including Three Kings, The Big Hit, The Corruptor, The Yards,
The Perfect Storm,
Planet of the Apes, Rock Star,
The Italian Job, I Heart Huckabees, Four Brothers, Invincible,
The Departed, Shooter, We Own the Night, The Happening, and Max Payne. For his role in the Martin Scorsese film
The Departed, Wahlberg received an Academy Award nomination for best supporting actor. Also to his credit, he has had great success as a producer with shows like HBO’s
Entourage (which is loosely based around his life and friends).
In his personal life, he has been connected to many famous women including Jordana Brewster, China Chow, Rhea Durham,
Reese Witherspoon, and Rebecca Scheffer. In 2001, Wahlberg began dating Rhea Durham, a model, and the couple has three children together, Ella Rae, Michael, and Brendan Joseph.
