Mary-Kate Olsen is an American actress and producer, who is most-known for having an identical twin sister,
Ashley Olsen. With her sister, she rose to prominence on the show
Full House, where both sisters played the character Michelle Tanner.
Because the pair was only nine months old, labor laws prevented them from working many hours, and as is the case with most child actors, the twins split the time on the show. Originally, the show tried to hide the fact that the role was performed by multiple people, crediting them collectively as “Mary Kate Ashley Olsen”.

Full House, the duo went on to star in and produce numerous direct-to-video pictures. They also had their likenesses appear on many products including dolls, books, clothes, fragrances, posters, and magazines. These products were very popular with the preteen market and contributed to their great success. In addition to a successful film and television career, Mary-Kate has been extremely successful as a fashion designer, selling her own line of clothing at Wal-Mart stores nationwide.
In her personal life, she has attended New York University, and she had a long relationship with Greek shipping heir Stavros Niarchos before a break up in 2005. She was also good friends with late actor Heath Ledger around the time of his death.
