Mercury Mountaineer - General Automotive

The Mountaineer is a midsize sport utility vehicle built by the Mercury division of American automaker Ford. First introduced in 1997, the Mountaineer is the sister car of the Ford Explorer due to a sharing of platforms. The car is currently in its third generational design phase.
Power is currently provided by a either a 4.0L V6 or a 4.6L mated to a 5 or 6 speed automatic transmission.
Like the Explorer, the Mountaineer was part of the Firestone tire controversy where investigators found vehicles equipped with certain tires were prone to higher failure rates.
