The plot centers on reporters and an angel expert who are investigating claims made by an elderly woman that an archangel is living in her house. The angel doesn't act very saintly though, and the only part of him that resembles an angel are the wings growing from his back. When the angel and the investigators travel to Chicago, momentous events take place. Michael was a number one film in the US box office for 1996 earning $95,318,203 domestically and $119,718,203 in gross revenue.
