Michael Beasley was drafted as the 2nd overall pick by the Miami Heat. He plays both forward positions and shoots his jump shot left-handed. While growing up in Maryland, Beasley played for one of the most successful AAU Youth Teams in the country, the PC Jaguars. He won multiple national championships with this team. Beasley was rated first by Rivals.com in the class of 2007 high school basketball prospects. He became the second player in the school to earn first team All-America honors from the Associated Press. Beasley has been named National Freshman of the year by four organizations. He has also been included in the First team All-American by various outlets. In his NBA Summer League debut, he scored 28 points and grabbed 9 rebounds to go along with 2 assists. He led the summer league in scoring.
