The Missioni fashion empire is a family owned and operated business. The Missioni designs are about glamour which is seen in the line's breezy wrap tops, tank dresses, sweaters and cardigans, and even the signature Missoni item: the tiny sting bikini. Missioni also designs a men's wear collection and a house wares.
Missoni specializes in knitwear for men and women. Since 1953, the fashion house, started by Ottavio and Rosita Missoni was one of the businesses that took off with postwar fashions in the 60s and 70s. Missoni got great attention in the late 60s for their knit designs that were a callback to the 1920s. The Italian fashion house was instrumental in helping create Milan Fashion Week, which today is the biggest fashion show in the world.
