She shot to prominence in 2003 when a sex tape she had made with her boyfriend Rick Salomon found its way onto the Internet. The sex tape garnered her a great deal of infamy, but also lead to a successful career in the spot light.
Following the scandal she was given her own reality television program “The Simple Life”. The “Simple Life” was a show on the E! channel about Hilton and
Nicole Richie, famous daughters from famous and wealthy families, living the life of “common” people. A DVD of the sex tape, entitled “1 Night in Paris” came out a week before the show premiered despite legal action on behalf of Hilton. “The Simple Life” was a great success, and from there, she went on to appear in the remake of the film House of Wax and even record her own solo music album, Paris.
Despite her mainstream success, she is probably more known for making tabloid headlines, including being arrested for DUI, serving jail time, making racists statements, and being in several feuds with other actresses, such as her The Simple Life co-star
