Prison Break is a drama on FOX that revolves around two brothers, Lincoln Burrows (Dominic Purcell) and Michael Scofield (
Wentworth Miller). The original premise of the show involved Micheal Scofield trying to break his brother, Lincoln out of prison before he was scheduled to be executed for a murder he did not commit. Micheal devised a plan and tattooing that plan on his body and purposely committing a crime to get thrown in the same jail as his brother.
FOX originally passed on the show because the network was worried that the premise could not hold up for a long term run. However, the show as given an initial 13 episode order and when the show debuted, the popularity it would gain was unexpected. The network orders more and currently the show has almost four seasons under its belt.
In order to keep the show fresh, the writers have had to change the original premise of breaking out of prison. The story has evolved to include government conspiracies, international imprisonment, and personal relationships.
The show will end its run in 2009 after four seasons.
